Classroom Roles Grade 1 2021/22

 We have a set of our classroom responsibilities. Each learner chose one role to do.

Roles are changed every month to give way to others who are also keen to do other roles.

Essential Agreements

 This week, we are able to finalise our essential agreements for the school year.

They worked in groups, shared ideas on how to behave the right way in certain locations/places in the school. The other groups gave inputs as well when we did the gallery walk.

Together, we chose the five most important ones and published them on a poster. The posters are on our classroom door so they are visible to everyone.

How to make friends

 This week we read a very short story with a title Billy Bully: A schoolyard counting tale.

The students listened to the read aloud and then enumerated different reasons why Billy "lost" his friends. They also explored the changes that Billy did to gain his friends back.

After reading the story and sharing ideas about it, the children were asked to choose one way Billy lost his friends and they also suggested ways on how to be a good friend. They showed this in a group doing a role play together or creating a poster.
